METHODS OF DETERMINING PREGNANCY (PREGNANCY) WEEK

METHODS USED TO UNDERSTAND WHEN WEEKLY WEEKLY
It is very important to determine the exact number of weeks of pregnancy during pregnancy. In cases where the gestational week can not be determined precisely, problems such as preterm delivery, developmental delay, water shortage, and day-out can occur in the coming months. The decision to continue or terminate the pregnancy is decided according to the gestational week when it is necessary. It can also be assessed by comparison with the gestational week that the development of the baby, the weight, and the measurements are normal. Normal birth or cesarean dates are determined by gestational weeks.

The methods used to determine the pregnancy week:
- Ultrason: Measurements such as baby's size, head diameter, head circumference, abdominal circumference, leg length are done by ultrasonography and gestation week is calculated. This method may not always give exact and exact results. However, the smaller the pregnancy, the more accurate the result. It gives more accurate results especially before the 20th gestational week.
- Last menstruation date: The pregnancy week is counted starting from the first day of the last menstruation date. Although this method provides accurate and very useful information, sometimes it can be misleading. Conditions such as menstrual irregularity, menstruation, late fertilization, and bleeding during early pregnancy can cause the last menstrual period to be misleading. In this case, the corrected menstrual history is found by using ultrasonography and other parameters and gestation week is calculated accordingly. Doctors and ebes calculate the pregnancy week by counting weekly until the date of the last menstruation of the mother with the calculator-like table shown in the picture above, this is also called the gypmeter on the table.
- Date of ovulation (ovulation): Mothers can clearly know the first day of the history of menstruation, but they do not know the exact date of ovulation. Spawning (ovulation) is clearly monitored with ultrasound follow-ups in patients given a history of ovulation induction (ovulation induction). This can be calculated by adding two weeks to the gestation week.
- Date of transfer to test tube: Since the date of transfer of the embryo into the uterus is already known in IVF applications, the gestation week can be calculated very clearly.
- Examination: Although it is no longer used due to the development of ultrasonography and other techniques today, manual examination in the past years was very important in determining the gestational week. By looking at the size of the uterus (rahmin), you determined how many weeks of gestation you had.
- Fetoscope: When baby's heart sounds are first heard with a device called a fetoscope, it can be used as a determining point in gestational week calculation. It is now a widely used method but it can be used in areas where medical conditions are not sufficient and in midwife 's follow - ups. The fetoscope is a tool that looks like a small pipe. A heartbeat of a baby can be heard by referring to a midwife or a doctor's ear in the stomach of a mother's mother. In this way the initial hearing of the calming sounds is about 18-20 weeks, so the gestation week can be calculated accordingly.
